米澤穂信 「折れた竜骨」
今回は知り合いからの貰いものです。
主人公は諸島を統治する領主の娘。領主である父の元に騎士とその従者が訪れてきて暗殺騎士と呼ばれる魔術師が命を狙っていると告げる。
領主はそれとは別にデーン人という呪われた人間が襲来してくることを知ったため、警戒して傭兵などの戦力を集めていた。
次の朝、領主は作戦室で刺殺されているのが発見される。騎士は暗殺騎士が魔術で人を操って殺害したものと見破り、操られた人物を見つけ出して暗殺騎士を追うことを決める、というお話。
剣と魔法のSF世界を舞台としたミステリー小説です。上下巻あわせて500ページくらいの内容。
今まで読んだSF舞台のミステリー小説では一番良いと思います。これだけファンタジー要素入っていてミステリー小説にちゃんとなっているのは正直驚きました。上下巻にわたってミステリーに絡む伏線がたくさん張られています。その伏線もSF世界の設定が上手く使われているため、通常のミステリー小説とは違った楽しみがあります。
こういったSFミステリーでは「読者に知らせてない設定がミステリーに絡んでくるのでは？」という懸念が大きい。しかしこれはその心配はありません。もちろんミステリー部分には魔法も関わってきますが、重要な魔法については解説があり、それ以外は出てきません。その代わり解説内容をちゃんと理解しないと面白くなくなってしまうので頑張って想像してください。
これはミステリー小説好きな人はぜひ読んで欲しい。ここまで楽しめたのは久しぶりでした。
Honobu Yonezawa "Folded keel"
This time it is a gift from my acquaintance.
The heroine is the daughter of the lord who governs the archipelago. A knight and his followers come to her father, they told him that a sorcerer called the Assassin Knight is aiming for his life.
On one hand the lord appointed that the cursed man called Dane was attacking, so he caught collecting the fighting power of mercenaries and others.
Next morning, the lord is found stabbed in the operational room. The knight finds that the assassination knight manipulated the man with magic and killed him. A story saying to decide to find a manipulated man and chase the assassination knight.
This is a mystery novel set in the SF world of sword and magic. Contents of about 500 pages in total together.
I think that it is the best in the SF stage mystery novel that I read so far. I was surprised that this fantasy element is included and it is properly placed in a mystery novel. There are many hints stretched around the mystery over the top and bottom. Because the SF world setting is well used for its hints, there are different fun from regular mystery novels.
In these SF mysteries, there is a great concern that "settings not notified to readers are involved in mystery?". But this is not worrying about it. Of course magic will also be involved in the mystery part. But there is explanation about important magic, it will not come out other than that. Instead, if you do not properly understand the content of the comment, it will not be interesting so please do your best and imagine it.
I hope that people who like mystery novels should read this. It was a long time since I could enjoy it until a long time.
