今村昌弘 「魔眼の匣の殺人」
前に読んだ「屍人荘の殺人」が良かったので買ってみました。
屍人荘での事件から月日が経ち、主人公たちは新たなミステリー同好会をスタートさせていた。あるときオカルト系を扱う雑誌に大規模な事件発生をいくつも言い当ててきた予言者が掲載されており、その人物にかつての事件と同じ組織が関わっているとして調査しに行くことになる。予言者の屋敷を訪れると「2日のうちに男女二人ずつ死ぬ」という予言がされており、また外へとつながる唯一の橋も落ちてしまい居合わせた者たちは屋敷に閉じ込められてしまう。本当に予言の通り事件は起きるのか？というお話。
「屍人荘の殺人」の続編となるミステリー小説です。
前作との繋がりもチラホラ出てきますが、読んでいなくても問題ない程度なので大丈夫です。
本作のテーマは未来予知です。未来が知らされてしまいそれを覆せませんとなったら人々はどうするのか？という内容を描いています。新型コロナウィルスのことで先行き不透明な不安が騒がれていますが、本作を読むと先が分かったからと言って良いことがあるわけではないと思ってしまいました。
ミステリーとしてみると推理するのは結構難しいです。本作は心理面での推理が中心となり、文章の端から端まで注意深く読むよりも登場人物の性格や行動を分析、想像しないと真相を当てるのは難しかったです。
作中にて未来が見えても恐怖しかない、という描写が多くありました。
私は未来は見えなくていいと考えています。細かい理由はなくて先が分かってしまったら単につまらないからです。むしろ先が見えないと不安になる人たちに共感できない。わからないなりに今回のコロナ騒動を機に周囲を見たり考えてみたところ、不安でいっぱいになる人たちほど何もしていないと感じました。もっと言うと暇な人ほど不安をたくさん持っています。
なぜそうなのか考えてみると難しいことはなくて、外でも家でもやるべきことややりたいことを持っている人は不安なことを考える時間が短いからです。特に現代はネットを使えば真偽問わず情報は無数に落ちているので、暇な人は自分で処理しきれない情報量を見てしまい余計に不安になるのだと思います。
話の雰囲気はとても取っつきやすいので気になる方は気軽に読んでみるといいと思います。

This is a mystery novel and a sequel to "Murder of the dead man's house".
There is a little connection with the previous work, but there is no problem even if you do not read.
The theme of this is future prediction, what do people do if the future is announced and cannot be overturned? At present, uncertainty about the future of the new coronavirus is being heard. I thought that reading this work did not mean that there was something good to know the future.
It is quite difficult to infer as a mystery. This work focuses on psychological reasoning. So, it is necessary to analyze and imagine the character and behavior of the characters.
There were many descriptions that there was only fear when the future was seen in the work.
I do not want to see the future. If you know the future, it’s just boring. Rather, I cannot sympathize with those who are worried if I can't see the future. I looked around and thought about this virus, I felt that People feeling full of anxiety felt they weren't doing anything. In other words, people who are free have more anxiety.
It was not difficult to think why, People who have things to do and want to do outside and at home have less time to think about anxiety. Especially in the modern age, if you use the Internet, information is innumerable, so people who are idle look at the amount of information that they cannot process themselves and are more anxious.
