長岡弘樹 「白衣の嘘」
タイトルが気になって買ってみました。著者の名前に見覚えがあるのでどこかで読んだかもしれない。
医療ミステリーの短編集となっています。
各章で出てくる出来事の真相を探るという内容です。ミステリーとしてみるとかなりうまくまとまっています。医療ミステリーなので医学知識がないと真相を自力で当てることはできませんが、真相に行きつくまでの話や医学的な謎解きも雑学的なためになる内容になっていてとても楽しめました。
短編集というと話や推理が雑なことが目に付きやすいのですが、医療ミステリーとなるとそもそも推理しようとしないで読むのでこれらの短所が消されていいかもしれませんね。
作中に出てくる話は面白いものが多いのですが、ひとつ紹介しましょう。
登場する医者が言うに「人間は死ぬ間際に真人間に戻る」とのことです。人は死が目前まで来ると自分の気持ちに素直になったり、改心したりすることがよくあるようです。医者は多くの死に立ち会ってきたためにこういった見解になるのでしょう。
もしこれが本当なら、犯罪者には下手な更生するよりもギリギリ死なない刑罰に処していった方が再犯率下がるかもしれませんね。人は生命の危機に瀕するくらいのことがないと改心しない、と私は常々思っています。
それと自殺しようとしてギリギリ踏みとどまって生還した人は真人間とまでは行かずともかなりの真人間になっているのかもしれません。自殺を考えるなんて病んでいる、と敬遠しがちですが話を聞いてみたら実は聖人に生まれ変わっているかも。
今まで読んだ短編集の中でもかなり面白い部類に入るので、おススメです。

I was interested in the title and bought it.
It has become a short edit of medical mystery.
It is the content of searching for the truth of the events that appear in each chapter. It's pretty well organized as a mystery. Since it is a medical mystery, it is impossible to reveal the truth without medical knowledge by itself. But the story until it comes to the truth and the solution to the medical mystery has also become a content that is trivially useful.
It is easy to notice that the short story has a rough story and reasoning. Because it is a medical mystery, you do not have to try to guess in the first place. It may be possible to erase these disadvantages.
Let's introduce one interesting thing in the story that appears in this.
The doctor who appeared appeared that "humans will return to true human beings just before they die". People often seem to be obsessed with their feelings or converted when death comes to the door. Doctors have this view because they have witnessed so many deaths.
If this is true, recidivism rates may be lower if the criminal is subjected to a lasting non-critical punishment rather than being subjected to a poor rehabilitation. I always think that people are not converted unless they are in danger of life.
And those who survived barely trying to commit suicide may be quite close to a true human being.It is tempting to avoid being sick to think about suicide, but it may actually be reborn as a saint.
