くろきすがや 「感染領域」
今回は貰いもの。このミステリーがすごい！の大賞に選出された作品。
主人公は植物病理学者の男性。かつての恋人と一緒にトマトの実以外まで赤くなって枯れてしまう病気を調査していた。
病気が拡大する中で、友人から偶然生まれた熟さないまま長期間枯れない「カグラ」というトマトの実態調査を依頼される。
カグラが病気への対抗策になると判明したが、謎の団体からカグラを渡すように恐喝されるなど妨害が相次ぐ、というお話。
「妨害してくる勢力の首謀は誰なのか？」「トマトの病気をどう治すか?」この二つの真相を解明するミステリーです。
前者の方はちゃんと読めば推理可能ではありますが、推理のヒントを理解するのに知識がいるので根拠を持って当てるのは難しいと思います。
後者はというとそれこそ専門知識が必要で「医療系ミステリー」に近いので推理するよりも読んで楽しんだ方が良い部分です。
ここまで書いて気づきました、この作品は知識なしで推理できる部分ないですね。このミステリーがすごい！に選出されているのにミステリーとして読めないのは少々まずいのでは・・・。
元恋人とのやり取りなどは面白いのでエンターテイメントとして読むと良くできる部分はあります。
ミステリーとしてではなく、エンターテイメント系の作品として読むと楽しめます。
Sugaya Kuroki "Infected Area"
This is a novel elected as the Grand Prize of "This mystery novel is amazing!".
The main character is a male from a plant pathologist. He was investigating the disease that would turn red as the tomato fruit died together with the previous lover. While the disease is expanding, he was asked from a friend to investigate the actual condition of tomato called "Kagura" which does not wither for a long time without ripening accidentally born.
He found that "Kagura" turned out to be a countermeasure against disease but there were obstacles such as being blackmailed to give Kagura from a mysterious group.
"Who are the masterminds of the forces that interfere?" "How can we treat diseases of tomatoes?" this is a mystery to elucidate the two truths.
The former is reasonable if you read it properly, but since you have knowledge to understand hints of reasoning, I think it is difficult to hit with grounds. The latter requires expert knowledge to solve it, it is close to "mystery of medical system" so it is better to read and enjoy than to reason.
In other words, ... this piece cannot be deduced without knowledge. It is a bit incongruous that we cannot read as a mystery though "This mystery is amazing!".
Interactions with former lovers are funny so there are parts you can do well as you read as entertainment.
You can enjoy it as a work of entertainment system, not as a mystery.
