山田宗樹 「人類滅亡小説」
山田さんの新しめな作品を読んでみました。
空に赤い雲が浮かぶと人類が滅亡すると言われていた。その雲は微生物の集合体で、周囲の酸素を吸収してしまうことからそう伝えられていた。ある日、赤い雲が地表近くまで落下してその地点の人間を含む生物すべてが死滅し、同じ現象が世界中で起きるようになった。人類が滅びないようにシェルターの建設が進められるが、完成してもすべての人間が入ることはできない。終わりが見えた世界で人々はどのように生きていくか、というお話。
近未来のSF小説となります。山田さんのSF小説はやはり面白い。
この小説のテーマは「自分の終わりが見えたときどうするか？」と読めました。作中ですとシェルターに入れない人間は確実に死ぬわけですが、自分が選ばれなかったときどうするか？は見所です。選ばれなかった人が嫉妬して選ばれた人に罵倒を浴びせるシーンなど醜い生き方になってしまった人々は特にリアルに描かれています。他の作品でもそうでしたが、山田さんはこういうところが上手い。
ページ数は400ページほどで、1ページに上下二段に文章が書いてあるのでかなり文字数が多いです。ハードカバーでこれですから文庫化したら上下巻になるのかな。それと作中では時系列がかなり飛ぶので人物の把握には気を付けましょう。章が変わったとたんに登場人物が結婚して子供までいる、というのが何度かありました。
絶望的な状況でこそ人としての真の力が明らかになる、と読んでいて感じました。
普段の生活でもそうですが、調子のいい時だけを見てその人が頼りになるかを判断するのは早計です。状況が悪くなった途端に逃げ出したり、人のせいにして当たり散らしたりするというのはよくある話です。
私が社会人になりたての頃、最初に配属された部署に他の部署からも一目置かれる有能な先輩たちがいました。あるとき巨大なトラブルに見舞われて長期的な苦しい時期となったのですが、その先輩たちは終わりの見えないトラブルのせいでたった2か月くらいでパワハラをまき散らす鬼畜へと変貌しました。トラブルが収束した今、先輩たちは元の人間へと戻っていきましたがあの時の鬼畜ぶりこそが本性なんだろうと私は思っています。
そういった経験もあったおかげで、人を見るときは苦しい状況でどう行動するかをよく見るようになりました。
もう一つ、この作品の副題(?)として平等は正義なのか？という話がありました。
作中だと「一部の人間を不平等に生かすくらいなら全員で平等に死のう」という考えが出てきます。平等というのは平和だからできることだと私は思っています(作中でも同じ意見が出ていました)。医学部の入試で女性が不利になっていた、というニュースがありましたが、あれの弁解は「医療の人手不足」でした。平等は立派な心掛けですが、それを苦しい状況でも遂行するのはかなり難しい。
内容が多くて読むのは大変ですが、SFが好きならぜひ読んでみてください。
Muneki Yamada "Human ruinous novel"
I read a relatively new novel by Mr. Yamada.
It was said that when a red cloud floats in the sky humanity will be destroyed. That cloud was an aggregate of microorganisms, so it was so transmitted as it absorbs the surrounding oxygen. One day, red clouds fell close to the surface of the earth, all the creatures including human beings at that point died and the same phenomenon occurred all over the world. The construction of the shelter will proceed so that humanity will not perish, but even if it is completed, not all humans can enter. The story of how people live in the world where the end can be seen.
It will be a science fiction novel in the near future. Yamada's SF novel is still interesting.
The theme of this novel is "I wonder what to do when I saw the end of myself". If it is under construction, a person who can not enter the shelter surely dies, but what if you do not choose it? is a highlight. People who have become ugly way of life, such as scenes that people who are not elected jealous and abuse others who have been chosen, are drawn particularly realistically. It was the same with other works, but Mr. Yamada is good at this kind of point.
The number of pages is about 400 pages, and since the sentences are written in two-up configuration on one page it is quite a lot of characters. I wonder if it will be rolled up and down when I convert it into a paperback.
With that and work in progress time lapse is quite early so let's take care to figure out the people.
As soon as the chapter changed the characters appeared married and had children until a few times.
I felt reading that people's true power will be revealed in desperate circumstances.
Even in everyday life, it is dangerous to judge only when they are in good condition to see if that person can rely on it. It is a common story that you escape as soon as the situation gets worse, or blame others for getting bad.
When I became a social worker, there were competent seniors expected from other divisions in the department I was assigned to the first time. At one time it got huge troubles and it was a long-term painful period. And their seniors turned into a man who sprinkled power hara in only about two months due to unseen trouble. Now that the trouble has converged, my seniors returned to the origin but I think that it is the nature.Thanks to such experiences, I began to see how to act in difficult circumstances when judging personality. Another, is equality justice as a subtitle of this work? There was a story that.When it is under construction, the idea of "to die equally in all people if it makes the best of some people inequality" comes out. I think that equality exists because it is peaceful.There was a news that women were disadvantageous at the entrance examination of medical school. The excuse for this was "human labor shortage". Equality is a fine mind, but it is quite difficult to accomplish it even in difficult circumstances.It's tough to read a lot of content, but if you like SF, please read itThank you for reading!!
