村上春樹 「羊をめぐる冒険」
村上春樹もちょいちょい読んでいます。この作品はファンタジー感が少ないと聞いて手に取りました。
北海道に旅立った友人から手紙が届く。手紙には一枚の羊の写真が同封されており、これを人目につくところに掲載して欲しいと頼まれる。広告の仕事をしていた主人公がその写真を掲載したところ、男性が主人公を訪ねてくる。彼は日本にいないはずの背中に星型模様を持つ羊の写真を見せ、この羊を一か月以内に探してくるように要求する。
友人と羊を探すために北海道へ向かう、というお話。
私含め世間でイメージされる村上春樹の作風とはだいぶ違う作品になります。
初期の中でも初期の作品なためかメルヘン感が抑えられています。メルヘン感が全くない訳ではなく出てくるのは下巻の中頃からなので、開始数ページ目からもはや何言ってるのか分からない・・・という状態にはならないと思います。
とはいえ物語の真相部分はファンタジー要素が結構あったので、村上春樹の世界観は出ています。私も終盤からは読むのを結構頑張りましたよ。これくらいなら苦手意識のある私でも問題なく読めました。
「登場人物や重要な物体が何を指しているのかを考えるのが村上作品の楽しみ」と昔聞いていて、今まで良く分かっていなかったのですがこの作品ではその楽しみがちょっと分かった気がしました。推理小説とはまた違う想像力を使うので不慣れな私ではまだちゃんと汲み取れてないでしょうけど、その程度の状態でも楽しめました。
「村上春樹が苦手だけど世界観を体験したい」という人にはこの作品から入るのが良いのかもしれない。
Haruki Murakami "The adventure over sheep"
I heard that this work has less fantasy feeling and took it.
A letter arrived from a friend who left for Hokkaido. A picture of a sheep was enclosed in the letter and he was asked to have it posted at the point where it is noticed. When the hero who was doing advertisement posted the picture, the man visits him. He presented a picture of a sheep with a star pattern on the back that should not be in Japan. And he asks him to find this sheep within a month.
A story that heading for Hokkaido to find a sheep with a friend.
This is a different work from the style of Haruki Murakami that is imaged by the world including me. Early among the earliest novels I feel suppressed fairy tale. It does not mean that there is no fairy tale at all, it comes out from the middle of the second volume. So, I think that it will not be the state that you do not know what it represents from the starting page.
However, the truth part of the story has a lot of fantasy elements, this is a world view that seems to be Haruki Murakami. I was able to read it without problems even if I was not aware of this much.

I heard. I did not understand well until now, but this work seemed a little familiar with its enjoyment.
I use different imagination from mystery novels, so I am not familiar with the unfamiliar one yet, but
I could enjoy it even in that state.
It may be good for you to start with this work for those who "We are not good at Haruki Murakami but want to experience the world view".
